I have been a journaler since I was about 5, literally, and have the volumes to prove it on an upper shelf in my closet. If my schedule allows, I start my day with a few rituals, one of which is journaling. It’s a great way to connect with myself, with spirit, and get clear about what’s most important for me today. One checklist I use to guide me in this process, is my adaptation of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
Abraham Maslow was a humanistic psychologist practicing in 1960’s and is most famous for this hierarchy of need model. There are many models of human need, but throughout my career working with conflict and negotiation, I have always preferred Maslow’s.
